Derailment of Freight Train at Sheffield Station

Statement from the Office of Rail and Road's HM Chief Inspector of Railways Ian Prosser CBE.

We are aware of an incident which took place in the early hours of this morning where a freight train derailed near Sheffield Station. Thankfully, there has been no loss of life or injury to staff or members of the public. 

"Two ORR inspectors will be attending the site of the incident and we will be working with RAIB and BTP to investigate what has happened."
